No Mary Ann Feuersrein, Recorder Ra — i p RESOLUTION I RE: ADOPTION OF THE 1978 EDITION OF THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE AS PART OF THE WELD COUNTY BUILDING CODE. ,o WHEREAS , the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, trx Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home ur Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, on April 19 , 1978 , the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado held a public hearing in its Chambers on the first floor of the Weld County Centennial Center for the purpose m of considering the adoption of the 1978 Edition of the National y1 Electrical Code as a part of the Weld County Building Code to re- -s place the 1975 Edition of the National Electrical Code, and WHEREAS, the Board heard the testimony of the Building Inspec- tion Division of the Weld County Department of Planning Services , and the recommendations of the Weld County Planning Commission in this matter, and WHEREAS, the Board finds that it is in the best interest of Weld County to adopt the 1978 Edition of the National Electrical Code NFPA NO. 70-1978 as a part of the Weld County Building Code for the purpose of establishing standards for the inspection of electrical installations and the issuance of electrical permits in Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS , the Board further finds that under the provisions of the laws of the State of Colorado, the County is required to have standards for electrical inspections no less restrictive than those adopted by the State of Colorado, and WHEREAS, the State of Colorado has adopted said 1978 Edition of the National Electrical Code. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commis- sioners of Weld County, Colorado that Section II.A.3. of the Weld County Building Code relating to the incorporation of standard codes X) 780027 BOOK 830 175205G into the Weld County Building Code shall be amended as follows : 3 . National Electrical Code. The publication of the National Fire Protection Association known as the National Electrical Code, 1978 Edition NFPA No. 70-1978 , is incorporated by this reference as a part of this Building Code for the purpose of establishing standards for the inspection of electrical installations and issuance of electrical permits in Weld County, Colorado. The above and foregoing Resolution was , on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 19th day of April , A.D. , 1978. The Planning Commission will review the proposed change and formulate a recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners. I am also attaching memos from Joe Jarvis and Bill Stewart requesting the adoption of this latest version. The 1978 version of the Code has been adopted by the State, and is being used by our inspectors currently as it is more restrictive than the 1975 Edition. We need to adopt the 1978 Edition so that our Code will be consistent with the State's. Please have your staff advertise this before the Planning Commission and the Board of County Commissioners as soon as possible. P. We are attaching a summary of the major changes in the 1978 Code as compared to the 1975 Code as prepared by our senior Electrical Inspector. We request that the 1978 National Electrical Code be adopted so that we are on the same standards as the State of Colorado. / Joseph E. Jarvis, Director mEmoRAnDum wickTo Joe Jarvis Date January 25 1978 •COLORADO From Bill Stewart , Electrical Inspector Subject National Electrical Code - 1978 Edition In regards to the 1978 National Electrical Code book - 1978 Edition, I find that there are no major changes that should affect our department in any large way; other than the GFI breakers to garage plugs , and the use of ground rods and water pipe grounds.
