4 REMARKS: Caseloads remained essentially stable during July compared with the prior
month. However, compared with the same month, the prior year, figures reflect the
i growth in the Food Stamp caseload with 1 ,503 more people participating in this pro-
gram. Otherwise caseloads are close to the levels carried during the prior month and
Iprior year.
I The most costly program, Aid to Families with Dependent Children , decreased by 5 families
compared with the prior month but was 24 families more than July, 1976.

Food Stamp sales reached a record $318,627 in July. This was due to the Federal cost-of-
r.
living increase in the value of stamps. r

Public Assistance expenditures (excluding ptd Age Pension) was $496,184. This nt was
$4,419 less than the preceding month but $32,962 higher than the sarne-- Q nth
