Greetings,
My name is Delora Lane. My husband, Cliff Lane and I own and operate RMS Storage, LLC located at 12840 Weld County
Road 2.5, Brighton, CO 80603 which is incorporated in the city limits of Brighton, CO and within Weld County.
As I am sure you are aware of the recent efforts of Weld County, CDOT and the UPRR to close railroad crossings along
the 85 corridor, the Public Utilities Commission did approve the closing of the railroad crossing at Weld County Road 2.5
no later than July 31, 2019.
We attended the Commissioners Public Hearing on this matter and also two full days of hearings at the Public Utilities
Commission. With this being said, we respectfully ask for advice and assistance moving forward.
RMS Storage owns 7 acres, with 25% of the acreage used to store vehicles, boats, campers and enclosed storage
containers, 60% of the acreage is used as parking for semi -trailer rigs and tandem dump trucks and the remaining 15%
for personal use in the form of a shop and a mobile home that is rented to tenant for security purposes.
With the closing of the railroad crossing at WCR 2.5, RMS Storage (and all the residents on WCR 2.5) are facing quite a
few obstacles. These issues were addressed at the Commissioner's public hearing and also to Weld County Public Works
Department. As we all know, aerial maps that were presented do NOT show the actual conditions or the problems that
we are facing.
I have been in contact with CDOT and the City of Brighton but have not met with them as of this date.
While we are aware that this railroad crossing at WCR 2.5 will be closed, we are asking that an actual physical
visit/meeting with a Weld County representative be scheduled as soon as possible.
Time is of the essence due to the impact of this closing, not only on RMS Storage, but on our customers, and residents of
Weld County.
