RE: Taproot Septic Design
AGPRO Project #2826-02
Dear Mr. Brazeall,
AGPROfessionals, LLC (AGPRO) has completed the engineered septic design you requested for
the proposed Taproot office located in part of the SE 'A of Section 11, Township 8N, Range
61 W. The existing building that will be converted to an office is located on the west side of Weld
County Road (WCR) 95 and northeast of the town of Briggsdale, Colorado. A United States
Geological Survey (USGS) Websoil Survey Report was obtained for the proposed building site,
and the soil type was primarily sandy clay loam (attached). The site has slopes of zero to three
percent predominately towards the west. No known easements exist within the area of the
proposed septic system. Below is a summary of the proposed septic design.
AGPRO understands the existing residence will be converted to an office. Per the inspection
conducted by Ken's Septic Service dated October 16, 2018, the existing septic tank has a volume
of 1,500 gallons and there is a soil treatment area of 324 square feet with chambers (see attached
Inspection Report). Per Table 30-6-2 in Chapter 30 of the Weld County Department of Public
Health and Environment On -Site Wastewater Treatment System (OWTS) Regulations, the
design flowrate for an office is 15 gallons per person per eight -hour shift. A long-term
acceptance rate (LTAR) of 0.35 gallons per day per square foot was used for sandy clay loam for
all treatment levels. Using this LTAR and the adjusted area of 324 square feet for the chambers,
the maximum design flowrate was calculated to be approximately 162 gallons per day. This
would result in a maximum of 11 people per day and an eight -hour shift each. Per Section 30-9-
20 Part B.3 in the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment OWTS
Regulations, the minimum volume of the septic tank was determined to be approximately 324
gallons, which is less than the existing septic tank.
Should more employees be needed in the future, the septic tank can support a maximum of 50
employees per eight -hour shift. This would result in a design flowrate of 750 gallons per day.
The soil treatment area would need to be expanded to a total of five legs, with each being 100
feet long and an additional 98 chambers added to the existing design.
