RE: ADJUSTMENTS FOR SICK LEAVE AND VACATION TIME CAUSED BY
THE PLACEMENT OF THE WELD COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT UNDER
THE WELD COUNTY PERSONNEL SYSTEM.
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, on March 21, 1979 , the Board of County Commis-
sioners approved placing the Weld County Health Department
under the Weld County Personnel System, and
WHEREAS, due to said placement of the Weld County Health
Department under the Weld County Personnel System, some policy
adjustments have been necessitated concerning sick leave and
vacation time, and
WHEREAS, a review of the vacation time accrued by the
employees at the Health Department shows that there are some
thirty employees who have carried over fifteen days or more
time under the Health Department policy. The accrued vaca-
tion varies from fifteen days to thirty six and one-half
days. To match policies on vacation, effective January, 1976 ,
the Board of County Commissioners feels that it would make a
very drastic adjustment for these individuals . Any such
adjustment would have an effect on the morale of the employees
of the Health Department. Therefore, the Board of County
Commissioners, in an attempt to be fair to the employees of
the Health Department as well as all other employees of the
County, has considered the following policy for vacation:
A. Employees of the Health Department will be
authorized to retain the accrued leave
they have as of March 31, 1979 .
B. They will have until April 1 , 1980 to
utilize that vacation.
C. That effective April 1, 1979 , all employees
of the Health Department will accrue vaca-
tion time in accordance with County policies.
WHEREAS, it has been recommended that the sick leave
of the employees of the Health Department should be recalcu-
lated at one and one-quarter days per month up to January, 1976
and re-adjust the sick leave, calculating it at one day per

month subsequent to January 1, 1976 and not to exceed 90 days.
Upon termination, the payment of sick leave should be in
accordance with the Weld County Personnel policy, i.e. , one-half
of the accrued sick leave be reimbursed, not to exceed one
month's pay, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners deems it
advisable to accept the abovestated policies concerning sick
leave and vacation time for the Weld County Health Department
employees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado that the abovestated
policies concerning sick leave and vacation time for the
Weld County Health Department employees be, and hereby are,
accepted.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly
made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 30th
day of May, A.D. , 1979 .
