Dear Planning and Zoning Commissions of Weld County:
My name is Amy Herrman and I am a resident of Weld County, in
unincorporated Platteville. I am the principal of Platteville Elementary
and am very active in my community. I am writing today to express my
extreme level of concern I have for the re- zoning for special use that is
being considered for our neighboring property on CR 33 .
My husband and his family run an 88 acre horse breeding and
training ranch and have been on this land for 21 years. The rich
agricultural culture and heritage made Weld County the ideal place to
buy agricultural land and run the ranch. I am very concerned that this
part of Weld County is now becoming a commercial /industrial area
instead of the amazing agriculture ranches and farms that it has been
zoned as. Recently, a very large Anadarko oiligas refinery was approved
for less than a mile from our home. This is extremely visible and has
Increased truck traffic tremendously. This is what caused our previous
neighbors to move.
Now, our new neighbors have bought the acreage next to us in
hopes that they can use part of their land for the crane company they
work for, and create a diesel shop and Crain storage facility for their
commercial business . With the gas plant being so close , having this
property turn commercial will cause the inevitable death of this area as
agricultural land . The business already has cranes and construction
equipment operating at all hours creating excessive noise for the
livestock and neighbors. We all use wells out here and the likelihood of
groundwater contamination will go up with a repair shop next door,
regardless of precautions they take. Just this morning , I had to pull into
the ditch as one of their dump trucks almost ran me off the road not
knowing how to drive on our narrow dirt roads .
Our family completely understands and supports the growth of
agricultural business ; egg farms , chicken farms and even dog breeding
facilities surround us. We do not mind because they are agricultural . I
believe if we continue to allow commercial industry to save a dollar and
buy agricultural land instead of commercial will only continue the
movement. This neighbor is not a local and is moving from out of state .
Our family has been farming in Weld county for over 75 years. Please
consider the agricultural heritage of Weld County and of this historical
area and please do not allow this property to be re- zoned for special
use. Thank you for your consideration .

Dear Weld County Planning and Zoning Board :
I, Amy Herrman and my husband , Matt Herrman , formally rescind our letter of
objection to the project occurring to the east of our home, at the home and
business of Joel Velasco.
Since writing the objection letter, Mr. Velasco has been working closely with us
to mitigate the effects of his plan on our quality of life. Through working with Mr.
Velasco, we now feel comfortable with this project moving forward.
Our concerns as homeowners in Weld County were never with Mr. Velasco
and his company, but rather with the allowance of zoning changes on agricultural
land . Having boon assured that restrictions have now been applied to future
development on agricultural lands, we feel our future as agricultural landowners is
being protected.
