RE: APPROVE CREATION OF WELD COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF OIL AND GAS
ENERGY AND APPOINTMENT OF JASON MAXEY AS DIRECTOR
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners, on June 10, 2019, designated the
unincorporated areas of Weld County, Colorado, as a mineral (oil and gas) resource area of state
interest pursuant to C.R.S. §24-65.1-202 (1), and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners, on June 10, 2019, directed staff to
prepare regulations concerning the activities so designated, in accordance with the requirements
of C.R.S. §24-65.1-402, and
WHEREAS, in order to administer said regulations concerning the oil and gas activities,
designated staff is recommending the creation of the Weld County Department of Oil and Gas
Energy, and the appointment of a Director of said Department, and
WHEREAS, in order to administer said regulations concerning the oil and gas activities,
designated staff is recommending the Director of the Weld County Department of Oil and Gas
Energy report directly to the Board, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Weld County Commissioners deems it advisable to appoint
Jason Maxey as Director of the Weld County Department of Oil and Gas Energy, effective July
16, 2019.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the Weld County Department of Oil and Gas Energy be, and hereby is,
created, effective July 16, 2019.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, that Jason Maxey be, and hereby is, appointed as Director of the Weld County
Department of Oil and Gas Energy, effective July 16, 2019.
