Dear Mr. Kanagy,
Congratulations to coach Kenny Anderson and the Windsor Wizards girls golf team for winning their second consecutive
Class 4A state championship on Tuesday, May 21! Despite the golf tournament being shortened by weather, the
performance by the girls on day one of the tournament in earning a 21 -shot lead over second -place Niwot spoke highly of
the teams' dominance.
While this accomplishment means a lot to you, the girls golf team, and the coaches and parents at Windsor High School,
it means a lot to us as well! Winning a state championship requires each team member to showcase commitment,
dedication and a consistent desire to improve; traits we admire in all Weld County residents.
That's why at the end of each high school sports season, we take time to honor the state championship teams in Weld
County by proclaiming a day in the schools' honor and formally congratulating the team on their special accomplishment
during one of our weekly board meetings.
Doing this after the spring season presents a challenge, however, as the conclusion of the season is so close to the end of
the school year. We realize that the team's three seniors arc close to graduating and other team members may have work
or family commitments during the summer making it difficult for the team to be in attendance.
We still want to recognize the girls golf team for their championship season at a board meeting, but to make it easier on
the team and allow for the most parents, students and faculty to attend, we've decided to wait until the beginning of the
2019-2020 school year to do so. At that time, we'd love to invite the team to be recognized with a proclamation
proclaiming Windsor Wizards Day.
Once again, congratulations to the Windsor girls golf team on being back-to-back state champions! We look forward to
recognizing this special accomplishment in the future!
