Open Letter to the Weld County Commissioners: Gentlemen: The Greeley Committee on the Environment strongly supports the Comprehensive plan developed and presented at public hearings over the last year. The provisions of growth being contained adjacent to existing towns and keeping the economic base of Weld County agricultural shows vast foresight and understanding by the commissioners. The recent proposed change of allowing development on some marginal lands appears to be a serious mistake that would permit the leapfrog growth the plan was intended to control. We urge immediate implementation of the original plan and a continued revision and strengthening of its land use pro- visions in the future. This is essential if we are to avoid a county sprawl and attain a quality environment to pass along to the next generation. This areas early settlers exhibited keen imagination and planned well for our generation. Regardless of special eco- nomic interests and pressures, we feel our County Commissioners will use the same high level of concern for those who follow us seeking a quality place to live. The plan is well designed; let's see it put into action! Sincerely, Qom I••o-g Paul W.
