WHEREAS, heretofore the Board of County Commissioners,
Weld County, Colorado, by resolution, directed and ordered the
establishment of a special reward fund, the monies from which are to
used to compensate persons for information leading to the arrest and
conviction of any person or persons found guilty of the removal and/or
destruction of County owned property, and
WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Board that there
is a constant continuation of removal and/or destruction of County
owned property; although, the Board did authorize a reward of One
Hundred Fifty Dollars ($150. 00) to be paid to anyone for information
leading to the arrest and conviction of persons found to be guilty thereof;
and
WHEREAS, the Board believes it to be in the best interests
of the County to take all the necessary steps to further discourage the
destruction and/or removal of said County owned road signs and other
County property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of
County Commissioners, and it hereby authorizes and directs the Chair-
man of the Board to file a criminal complaint in behalf of the County
against any and all persons caught or accused of removing and/or
destroying County owned property or having such County owned property
in his possession illegally.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Board, and it hereby
authorizes and directs that a reward of Five Hundred Dollars ($500. 00)
shall be paid to anyone for information leading to the arrest and con-
viction of any person or persons found to be guilty of removing and/or
destroying County owned property or of possessing such County owned
property illegally.
BE IT STILL FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution
shall remain in effect until further order of the Board.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made
and seconded, adopted by the following vote, on the 11th day
of September, A. D. , 1974.

Road Signs
1 . Brand all signs with Weld County Identification.
2. Notify area junk dealers of missing signs and request
their co-operation.
3. Offer $ 1 ,000 reward for information leading to arrest and
conviction of anyone stealing sign.
4. Place notifications in area papers on 3-6 month basis offering
reward and informing citizens that their tax money is being used
to replace signs.
5. Have unmarked cars patrol areas on random basis where high loss
occurs.

6. Maintain records of lost signs to identify high loss areas.
7. Ask co-operation of Civic and local government agencies to help
stem destruction of signs.
