B. 1041 and your resolve to designate matters of State interest was given to us by the State Conservation Board. As an agency, or subdivision of State Government, we would like to inform you of our activities of State interest and the need for funds to carry out some of our activities. We are charged by the enabling legislature setting forth soil conser- vation districts with the responsibilities of carrying out soil and water conservation practices on private lands and the furnishing of soil and water related information and technical expertise to units of governments such as counties, cities, towns, schools, etc. In recent years, we have been most active in the pollution abatement field, flood insurance studies, subdivision reviews, and at the present working on the flood plain study of Coal Creek and Rock Creek in the western part of Weld County. Soil Conservation Districts support H. B. 1041 since they have been actively engaged in land use planning for many years and for the first time looking forward to some financial assistance to assist them in this endeavor.
