I want to thank you for taking the time to meet with myself, Colorado Department of Corrections
(CDOC) team, and Opal Foods on Monday, October 28th, 2019 to discuss the Take TWO (Transitional
Work Opportunity) Re-entry Program. The Take TWO Re-entry Program is designed for incarcerated
individuals to work for an employer and earn a marketable to prevailing wage during the last 6
months to 1 year of their sentence. Opal Foods, LLC is a company that CDOC has partnered with and
has hired these incarcerated individuals as their employees. Per our meeting and discussion CDOC
will be able to provide the following items to Weld County Sherriff's Department and Weld County
Commissioners:
Information on our internal screening and vetting process for Take TWO incarcerated
individuals.
A list of incarcerated individuals that will be and are employed at Opal Foods, LLC.
Take TWO individuals wilt be transported by CDOC from Sterling Correctional Facility to Opal Foods,
LLC and back to the prison where they will be housed. Take TWO individuals will be electronically
monitored and supervised by Opal Foods at the Opal Foods worksite. Take TWO individuals will be
subjected to random drug testing by the CDOC. Opal Foods, LLC has agreed to employ and maintain
a total limit of 12 people from the Take TWO program.
As a follow up, it was agreed upon that we should meet again in January, 2020 to check -in on the
progress of the Take TWO Re-entry Program with Weld County Commissioners and Weld County
Sheriff's Department.
