SAFETY COMMITTEE
DECEMBER 19, 1974
First meeting
The first meeting of the Safety Committee was held December 19,1974 at 6:30 P.M.
in the Home Rule Commission office. Members present were:
Edward L. Dunbar
Charley Baumgartner
Donald E. Altergott
Glenn K. Billings
George H. Brooks
The agenda was as follows :
1. Areas of law enforcement
2. Detention, incarceration - including juveniles
3. Fire Protection
4. Joint study with the subcommittee on County Relations with Municipalities,
Local Improvement Districts, Regional Council of Governments.
5. Ambulance
6. Coroner - Joint study with the Health Committee - Ambulance and Coroner
Committee assignments for the next meeting are:
Law enforcement - Glenn Billings
Edward Dunbar
George H. Brooks
Fire protection - Donald E. Altergott
Charley Baumgartner
A map from the Assessors office showing present fire districts will be secured
for the Committee by Commissioner Billings.
Commissioner Billings reported that the county is currently conducting a study
on formation of the county wide law enforcement district.
When this study is ready it will be made available to the Committee on Safety.
The suggestion was made that when the Committee interviews the Sheriff' and the
Sheriff elect, that arrangements be made for such a hearing to be held before the
full Commission.
The next meeting was set for January 4, 1975 at 8:30 A.M. , at the Commissioners'
meeting room.
