Dear County Commissioners: The Bureau of Land Management Royal Gorge Field Office, located in Canon City, administers subsurface federal mineral estate throughout portions of eastern Colorado, including portions of Weld County. Our field office has an upcoming oil and gas lease sale in September 2019 that includes one or more nominated parcels in Weld County. (Please see the attached press release.) Specific Information on these parcels and the Environmental Assessment process is on the website listed in the press release. Our environmental review and analysis is open to the public and provides several opportunities for public input. It's my desire to keep you as commissioners apprised of our federal leasing activities in your county. Main St., Canon City CO. 719-269-8515 kbergerPblm.gov G(oM z\- c 5 I2©r i 1 2019-1859 News Release BLM Colorado For Immediate Release: May 14, 2019 Contact: Kirby -Lynn Shedlowski, Public Affairs Specialist, 303-239-3671 Notice of public period for environment compliance documents 83 parcels to be offered in the September oil and gas lease sale LAKEWOOD, Colo. —In keeping with the Administration's goal of promoting American energy independence, the Bureau of Land Management will offer 83 parcels, totaling 78,691 acres in Cheyenne, Garfield, Jackson, Kiowa, Moffat, Rio Blanco, Routt, and Weld counties at its September 2019 quarterly oil and gas lease sale. The September lease sale includes 75 parcels totaling 69,058 acres of previously deferred Greater -Sage Grouse habitat, now available for leasing with the release of the recent Greater -Sage Grouse plan amendment. This notice initiates a public comment period on associated environmental documents that ends on June 12, 2019. The BLM will hold the lease sale online at www.energynet.com. Responsible energy development includes thoughtful consideration of parcels nominated for leasing as well as potential resource impacts of decisions to lease. An additional environmental review will take place during processing of an Application for Permit to Drill (APD), when site -specific Conditions of Approval will be placed on the permit in addition to the stipulations attached to the lease. Comments on the environmental assessments (EAs) must be submitted through the September 2019 ePlanning Site. The environmental documents, lists and maps of the parcels, and attached stipulations are online on the ePlanning Site. Persons who use a telecommunications device for the deaf (TDD) may call the Federal Relay Service (FRS) at 1-800-877-8339 to leave a message or question with the individual named above. The FRS is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Replies are provided during normal business hours. The oil and gas industry on public lands in Colorado contributed over $6.9 billion in total economic output in Fiscal Year 2018.
