Dear Ms. Burke,
This letter is in response to your August 8,2019 letter indicating Weld County now has sufficient
population to meet the definition of an urban county under the Community Development Block
Grant(CDBG)program. In reviewing the requirements to qualify for fiscal year 2020, the various
deadlines appear to make it very difficult,if not impossible,to qualify for 2020 funding.As a result,
please allow this letter serve as Weld County's written confirmation to you that Weld County will
need to defer for FY 2020 and complete the qualification process in 2020 for fiscal years 2021-2023.
Therefore, Weld County would accept entitlement status on a start date of January 1, 2021.
If you need anything else from Weld County to satisfy the requirements of your August 8, 2019
letter,please advise us in writing. Weld County looks forward to accepting the CDBG urban county
entitlement status January 1, 2021 in order to receive funding for fiscal year 2021.
