BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS 1 Barbara Kirkmeyer, Chair Mil Freeman, Pro Tern Sean P. Conway Scott K. James Steve Moreno By: Deputy Clerk to the Board -Igo October 31, 2019 OFFICE OF BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS PHONE: 970-336-7204 FAX: 970-336-7233 1150 O STREET P.O. BOX 758 GREELEY, COLORADO 80632 Ryan Hilbig Greeley West Athletic Director/Assistant Principal 2401 35th Avenue Greeley, CO 80634 Dear Mr. Hilbig, We certainly understand how busy the staff and students are at Greeley West High School as the school year marches through fall right into the holiday season. However, we didn't want to let any more time pass without congratulating the Greeley West boys swimming and diving team on winning the Class 4A state championship on May 18! As we have for many years, at the conclusion of each high school season, we like to honor state championship teams from Weld County at a board meeting. Doing this for spring sports is challenging, however, as the conclusion of the season is so close to the end of the year that it's difficult to find a time to honor team members without interfering with summer plans. By waiting, we run the risk of kids graduating, or the following school year becoming too busy. We want Greeley West High School, the boys swimming and diving team, parents and coaches to know just how proud we are of this remarkable accomplishment. Winning state is impressive enough but capturing the first state title in the history of the boys swimming and diving program is uniquely special. Being named champions is an incredible achievement and a lasting memory for young people. It requires many traits we value in Weld County residents: dedication, teamwork, a strong work ethic and a desire to continually improve. Those traits not only served the team members athletically last season, but they will also assist them as they move forward in their lives. Congratulations to the Greeley West Spartans! Enclosed with this letter is a proclamation signed by all five county commissioners. Please share with the team and school how you see fit. Sincerely, BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS Barbara Kirkmeyer, Chair Hello
