This will be the final segment of new trail and will complete the 11 -mile project between Windsor and Eaton. It is our intent to go to bid this April, select a contractor in May, and complete construction by fall. Since 6.5 miles of the 7 miles is in unincorporated Weld County, we would like to discuss topics that Weld County will want to be involved in prior to and during construction. One of these topics will be how to design the trail crossings at 6 county roads. Here we'll need a cooperative effort to insure the safety of trail users. Trail operation and maintenance within the county after construction is also something we'd like to discuss. Noxious weed control, law enforcement and road crossings are ongoing issues we hope to coordinate with Weld County. Since Weld County currently helps fund the maintenance of the Poudre Trail, we again would like to discuss the possibility of your financial support for the Great Western Trail. We would also like to meet new Commissioner Scott James to acquaint him with our project. Please let me know if it would be possible for us to get on one of your work session agendas sometime after January 20th. Thank you.
