well-being; and
WHEREAS, access to local, community -based prevention, intervention, and treatment
services are much less likely to require more expensive alternatives of hospitalization or
incarceration; and
WHEREAS, integrated physical and behavioral healthcare has been successful in Weld
through collaborations between North Range Behavioral Health and community health
centers; and with early and effective treatment, those individuals with mental illness or
substance use disorders can recover and lead full, productive lives; and
WHEREAS, Weld County is healthier because of the collaborative work we do with our
partners in Weld school districts, human services, sheriff, police and fire departments,
United Way, and many others; and
WHEREAS, as of December 2014, without regard for ability to pay, our citizens have access
to 24/7 Crisis Services for mental health and addiction crises in Weld and throughout the
state; and
WHEREAS, later this year, North Range Behavior Health will open a facility to meet the
growing behavioral health needs of southern Weld County; and
WHEREAS, North Range Behavioral Health observes nationally recognized Mental Health
Month every May to raise awareness about mental health and addictive disorders, and the
importance of prevention and mental wellness.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of County Commissioners does hereby proclaim the month of
May 2019, as Mental Health Month and calls upon the citizens, government agencies, public
and private institutions, businesses and schools to recommit our community to increasing
awareness and understanding of behavioral health, and the need for appropriate and
accessible services for all citizens.
