Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe. Dear Planner Aungst, My name is Ellen Oman. I am the current owner of 14510 County Road 6, Fort Lupton. My husband and I purchased this property more than 20 years ago. Sadly, my husband passed away in 2016 and I have had to make the difficult decision to downsize. Rachel Crawford, the buyer of my property, and her daughters, Keaton and Kili are experienced, accomplished horse owners who have successfully competed at the World Championship level. The reason for the USR, interestingly, is that their love and extensive knowledge of animals goes beyond horses. Honestly, this has been an eye opener for me in regard to the definition of a kennel . I am not over the limit with my 1 neutered dog, 4 spayed/neutered cats and 2 geese but I am close. I know for a fact that some of my neighbors are exceeding the standards, perhaps, unknowingly. The Crawford's have done their due diligence and are respectfully following the codes set forth by requesting a USR so that they can legally have their beloved animals and household pets. The request is not as extreme as the notice makes it sound. This relatively remote, agricultural property with an irrigated hay field is perfect for them. It has been totally designed with the safety and security for animals of all shapes and sizes in mind. My life here has predominantly revolved around horses but in the past I have had cattle, llamas, goats, geese, rabbits, cats, dogs, ducks and probably others that I have temporarily forgotten. Thank you for your consideration. I hope that Weld County will welcome this delightful family with open arms. In this crazy world that we are living in, it is certainly refreshing to work with nice, kind people who respect the existing rules. Their knowledge of animals and their enthusiasm for education is commendable. I am completely confident that I will be leaving my property, my friends, my neighbors and Weld County in good hands. Sincerely yours, Ellen Oman 1 June 20, 2020 Weld County Commissioners 1150 O Street PO Box 758 Greeley CO. $Q631 Dear Weld County Commissioners: My name is Cathy Henke. I live at 1632 County Road 29 Fort Lupton CO. 80621. My property directly abuts the Oman property. I know the Crawford's and their level of animal care. It is exceptional. Very glad that the Oman property will continue to focus on animals and agriculture. I fully support their application (USR 20 - 0009) for the keeping of their exotic animals and their request for a kennel license for household pets. ''hank you. I am an associate veterinarian at Aspen Creek Veterinary Hospital, and I see the Crawford? kangaroos, rabbits and tortoises, in addition to the zebra and horses for routine husbandry concerns as well as medical emergencies. The Crawfords provide excellent care for all animals on their premises and provide housing and vet care on par with most zoo facilities. They are knowledgeable, willing and communicative when it comes to each of their animals and their individual needs. Thank you for your time, and we would be happy to answer any questions about their animals or husbandry, should you feel the need to reach out. F d Brett Setser, DV Green Mountain Animal Hospital 720 Golden Ridge Road, Unit A Golden, CO 80401 (303) 985-8761 June 22, 2020 To Whom It May Concern: This letter is in concern to pet's owned by Rachel Crawford and my care of those pets. While my practice isn't limited to exotic animals, I have been employed to work with many exotic animals including a number of zoologic species. Rachel has asked me to work on her rabbits, tortoises, and kangaroos. While these pets have not been ill to any great extent, they have been presented, visited and treated for various maladies, and for the most part, I feel pretty comfortable with that relationship. I have ready access to experts in the study and treatment of these various species if needs demand including diagnostics, sedations/anesthesia, and treatments of their common diseases. In this regard, I've been called upon by Rachel to help in the care of these pets, that have been in Rachel's possession for a number of years and are all doing very well under her care. If I can be of further assistance, please let me know. Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe. To whom it may concern, I am writing this email to inform you again of the many concerns I (Sack family the neighboring landowner) have for the intended future use of Oman's property through the Special Review Permit (Case # USR20-0009). Our family has a well -established farming and cattle business that is adjacent to the north side of Oman's property line. While attending the meeting on June 2"d, my concerns I have for protecting my livestock from possible unknown diseases was briefly discussed, however, I feel a solution was not found. One commissioner suggested putting up a second fence with a 6 -foot spacing to prevent nose to nose contact. However, there are still diseases that are spread by sand flies, such as vesicular stomatitis (VSV) or parasitic skin disease found on red kangaroos that will not be protected. At one point during the meeting, the applicant stated she could provide the health record for their animals to the commissioners. She fumbled a little with her papers as she presumably attempted to look for it. The applicant clearly waited for the commissioner to say she did not need to show the 1 information After learning the applicants will have several barn cats was also alarming An outbreak of Toxoplasmosis hit a small herd of kangaroos leaving only a few survivors Mallory Pfiefer (2019) reported, Texas A & M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) not only diagnosed the kangaroos with toxoplasmosis, but also determined the cause to be exposure to contaminated feline feces as they are the main host of toxoplasma gondii Outbreaks do happen and I do not want my herd of livestock to become infected with any diseases that can come from their exotic animals In addition, I also have many concerns about how aggressive kangaroos can be On the Australia's Queensland government website, states as kangaroos become more familiar with tourists feeding them, they will become more comfortable approaching humans and will demand food by biting or scratching Some kangaroos will kick and/or scratch when they feel there is a threat (see attached pictures) On a local media website, the applicant (Keaton Crawford) provided information about their current yoga with kangaroos business Along with the information she explained people who atteiid this event must first sign a waiver as the kangaroos can become aggressive acknowledging some of the dangers associated with the animal Furthermore, in the local news last week a scientific animal sanctuary in Larkpur, Colorado reported a kangaroo escaped and was missing for two weeks The Zoology Foundation General Manager Anna Miller informed the public, do not attempt to catch it but keep eyes on it Please call their facility as their staff are trained for that situation Therefore, I do have a lot of concerns with the safety of having kangaroos moving in next door as they can easily escape and are violent Furthermore, I do not see how to address this special permit without discussingrhow I am opposed to the commercial business The Crawfords currently have a kangaroo yoga business In their application, it states they plan to continue kangaroo yoga, and include rabbits and goat yoga along with carnage rides They plan to have their business open 7 days a week from 9 00 am to 7 00 pm The noise and traffic will change the quiet atmosphere our livestock currently thrive on Again, I strongly believe by allowing this special review permit to move forward will impede our "right to farm " In Weld County's statement, as an agricultural user of the land, we should not be expected to alter our long-established agricultural practices to accommodate the unnecessary intrusions of urban users into a rural area The type of business the Crawfords plan to execute will attract urban people who are not familiar with the rural way of life and can create many unnecessary issues George Sack Gina Sack 2 YOU HAVE ENTERED WILDLIFE SANCTUAR DO NOT FEE[ THE KANGAROOS!
