WELD COUNTY ADOPTION MONTH - NOVEMBER 2020
WELD COUNTY ADOPTION DAY - NOVEMBER 20, 2020
WHEREAS, the Board of Weld County Commissioners recognizes the importance of giving
children and youth, who have suffered the impact of abuse and neglect, permanent, safe and
loving families through adoption; and
WHEREAS, nationally there are more than 122,000 children and youth, including over 60
children in Weld County, who are waiting for adoption through legal permanency; and
WHEREAS, National Adoption Month is recognized annually in November throughout the
nation as a time to raise awareness about the urgent need for adoptive families for children
and youth in foster care. Weld County Department of Human Services recognizes the
importance of National Adoption Month and will have a special day of virtual adoption
hearings on Friday, November 20, 2020 (in association with National Adoption Day on
Saturday, November 21st) to finalize the adoptions of local children and join other
organizations to celebrate all adoptions.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of County Commissioners does hereby proclaim November
as Weld County Adoption Month and November 20, 2020, as Weld County Adoption Day, and
in so doing, urge all citizens to join in a national effort to raise awareness about the
importance of child welfare adoption.
