Championship Tournament February 20, 21 and 22 at the Pepsi Center in Denver; and
WHEREAS, two individual state championship victories by junior Isaiah Rios at 138
pounds and senior Jaziah Whaley at 160 pounds helped keep Valley at the top of the team
standings; and
WHEREAS, senior Noah Damian's fourth -place finish at 132 pounds, along with juniors
Javan Valdez and Zach Brown's fifth -place finishes in their weight classes enabled the
Vikings to finish with 105.5 points; and
WHEREAS, the team's strong performance earned Valley a share of the state title — the
wrestling program's first since 2017.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of Commissioners in Weld County, Colorado, congratulates
the Valley Vikings wrestling team, coaches and parents on a truly special season. The hard
work, teamwork and determination shown in winning the state championship are traits we
value in Weld County residents and ones we're proud you've shown while achieving a
remarkable goal.
