A letter to all political candidates running for elected office in Weld County,
It has come to the attention of our legal department that some political candidates are using the Weld County logo
on their personal campaign material.
As clearly stated in Weld County Code, which all parties running for a county -elected office should be familiar
with, use of the logo by non -county employees is expressly prohibited as well as the use of the logo on non -county
government issued material.
Sec. 2-1-190. - County logo.
The County Logo is authorized for use by all County staff on items of County correspondence, and for display
on authorized departmental forms, the official County website, and as authorized by the Board of County
Commissioners. (Weld County Code Ordinance 2019-01)
Please note this is the same for the county seal.
Sec. 1-4-10. - Corporate seal.
A seal, the impression of which shall contain in the center images of a sugar beet, an oil lamp, a cow and a
sheaf of wheat, with the words "Weld County" and the year "1861" arranged in a circle surrounding the
images, shall be and hereby is declared to be the Seal of the County. Pursuant to Paragraph 3-7(2) of the
Charter, the Clerk to the Board is the custodian of the County Seal. Use of the Seal shall be reserved for
attestation of signature by all five (5) Commissioners or for signature by the Chair, as authorized by the Board
of County Commissioners, and for display on the County flag. (Weld County Codification Ordinance 2000-1;

Please immediately remove any and all material (printed and electronic) on which use of the county logo and/or
county seal appears, and desist from using it for purposes not authorized by county officials.
