HomeMy WebLinkAbout700411.tiff f ' RESOLUTION WHEREAS, on or about May 1 , 1968, Weld County, Colorado, did adopt a schedule of county road specifications relating to construction of new county roads in Weld County by contractors and /or subdividers, and WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Board of County Commissioners, Weld County, Colorado, that said schedule of county road construction did not provide for asphalt paving of roads, and WHEREAS, the Board is of the opinion that there is a need to incorporate within the present county road specifications and requirements the item of asphalt paving where required. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that from date hereof, the item of asphalt paving be added to and be a part of the present Weld County road specifications and as more particularly set out and shown on attached schedule "ASPHALT PAVING" and made a part hereof by reference. BE IT FURTHER. RESOLVED that the schedule entitled "ASPHALT PAVING" attached herewith and made a part hereof by reference, be and it hereby is, adopted and shalt be incorporated within the present existing county road specifications and requirements of Weld County, Colorado. Prime Coat: This item shall conform to the Standard Specifications of the Colorado Department of Highways for Item 30 and shall be a medium curing asphlt of a grade specified by the engineer and shall be applied at a rate specified by the engineer. The use of other asphaltic materials will be permitted as directed by the engineer. Seal Coat: This item shall conform to the Standard Specifications of the Colorado Department of Highways for Item 30 and shall be a rapid curing asphalt of a grade specified by the engineer. The use of other asphaltic materials will be permitted as directed by the engineer. The quantities of the liquid asphalt and the cover aggregate that are to be used shall be determined by the engineer. Cover Aggregates: Stripping resistance of the cover aggregate shall conform to Colorado State Highway Specification Item 31.2.3.3. Construction methods shall conform to State Highway Specification Item 31.3.21. C131) Plant-Mixed Asphalt Surfacing: This item shall conform and all work shall be done in accordance with the Standard Specifications of the Colorado Department of Highways for Item 32, and the mineral aggregate shall meet the following requirements: Gradation Sieve Size Per Cent Passing 3/4" 100% No. 4 30 - 60% No. 10 25 - 50% No. 40 18 - 30% No. 200 5 - 12% Liquid Limit 25 Max. Abrasion: Course aggregate shall show a loss of not more than forty-five per cent (45%) when tested in accordance with A.A.S.H.O. Standard Method Test for Abrasion of Course Aggregate by use of the Los Angeles Machine, Designation: T-96 (A.S.T.M. C131). The asphalts, cements and liquid asphalt shall conform with Items 29 and 30 respectively of the Colorado Highway Department Standard Specifications. Rolling shall conform to Colorado State Highway Specifications Item 32.3.5 except that two rollers, one steel and one rubber-tired, self propelled non-wobbly wheel, shall be required at all times. Additional rollers will be required when placing over 75 tons per hour at the rate of one additional roller per 50 tons per hour. The contractor will be required to obtain a minimum of 95% of laboratory density determined from specimens made in accordance with the Hveem or Marshall Method of Test. Surface smoothness shall conform to Item 32.3.5.2. of State Highway Standard Specifications. Hello
