MONDAY, JANUARY 20, 2020
WHEREAS, the Erie Tigers softball team competed in the Class 4A State Tournament
October 25 and 26, 2019, at Aurora Sports Park; and
WHEREAS, seeded 14th to begin the two-day tournament, Erie defeated Pueblo South,
D'Evelyn and Holy Family to advance to the state championship game against Golden;
WHEREAS, strong offense gave the Tigers the championship victory. Seniors Kaylee
Armstrong and Madysun Vaughan each hit two home runs in a back -and -forth game to
upset the number -one seeded Demons 13-9; and
WHEREAS, the victory gave Erie its 12th softball state championship in program history
and the first in nine seasons; a reflection of the consistent dedication, work ethic, and
commitment shown by players, coaches and parents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Board of Commissioners in Weld
County, Colorado, that in honor of the Erie Tigers softball team winning the Class 4A
State Championship, Monday, January 20, 2020, be known as Erie Tigers Day.
