MEMORANDUM
DATE: December 6, 2019
TO: Board of County Commissioners — Pass -Around
FR: Judy A. Griego, Director, Human Services
RE: Housing Authority Policy Modification
CC: Tom Teixeira, Director, Greeley -Weld Housing Authority
Request the Board of County Commissioners, acting as the Housing Authority Board, to Immediately
Modify Policy Through Resolution. The Department is requesting policy modification related to the specific
short-term objective noted in the September 13, 2019 Pass -Around Memorandum confirming the September 9,
2019 Critical Housing Work Session Outcomes (see attached). The specific objective is noted below.
"Child Welfare clients will be given preferential points for Section 8 housing. This will not
impact the current point system; Child Welfare points will be in addition to the existing point
system."
The Department is requesting that the amount of preferential points noted in the modified policy be set to four
(4) points. Immediate action is requested as the Department currently has a critical active client in need of
housing and the Housing Authority will not respond to this need under current policy. If this request is
not approved the children may require placement in foster care.
I do not recommend an additional Work Session. I approve the Board of County of Commissioners, acting as
the Housing Authority Board, to immediately modify the policy through Resolution and act upon the
Department's urgent need.
