MEMBER, EASTERN WELD PEST
CONTROL DISTRICT ADVISORY BOARD:
WHEREAS, by resolution dated July 11, 1973, a pest
control district known as Eastern Weld Pest Control District
was established, and
WHEREAS, it has been recommended that an advisory
board be appointed to said Eastern Weld Pest Control District ,
and
WHEREAS, it has been recommended that George Allard be
appointed to said Eastern Weld Pest Control District Advisory
Board.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County
Commissioners , Weld County, Colorado, that Mr. George Allard
be and he is hereby appointed to serve as a member of the Advisory
Board for the Eastern Weld Pest Control District , said term
expires September 1, 1978 .
The above and foregoing resolution was , on motion duly
made and seconded, adopted by the following vote :

We the County Commissioners of Weld County in accordance
with provisions of 3-17-7 do hereby certify that a pest
control district has been establishedin accordance with
provision of Chapter 6, article 5 in which 66 2/3 % of landowners
representing not less than 51% of the land within the Eastern
Weld Pest Control District in the area consisting of approximately
150,000 acres.
The area in which the infestation averaged approximately
15 grasshoppers per square yard bounded by (see attached map) .
(Eight grasshoppers per square yard by U.S.D.A, standards
is considered to be of economic importance.) -
Attached is a detailed description of the area within
the district that is significantly infested to require control
measures.
We do further certify that no less than 66 2/3% of the
landowners .within the district have agreed to pay 100% of the
cost of crop acreage as determined by the Colorado Department
of Agriculture and 1/3 cost per acre for range acreage as
determined by the Colorado Department of Agriculture as a
contribution to pay the cost of exterminating the grasshoppers
that are infesting the said area.
We do also hereby petition the Commissioner of Agriculture
of the State of Colorado to request to the Governor that funds
be made available to the Colorado State Department of Agriculture
from the Governor's Agriculture Emergency Fund is the amount
of $45,000 to be used as matching funds provided by federal
and private landowners. This amount would be the State of •
Colorado's proportionate .s.

, y Upon receipt of certification of such an area the Department
of Agriculture shall immediately direct operations to commence
to exterminate the grasshoppers in said area.

Dear Lieutenant Governor,
This is an official request that southeast Weld County be
declared a disaster area due to the number of grasshoppers
covering 177,920 acres .
The area affected is all land north to the Platte River
from a line east and west along highway 80S from the Morgan
County line to county road-49 Also affected is a block of
land nine sections wide east and west and ten sections
long north and south lying north of the Platte River from Hardin
on the west and Riverside Reservoir on the east'.
There are no funds available to control this problem for
County and private funds have all been designated for uses by
State, Federal and local governments at this time.
If you need further information about this request please do
not hesitate to contact this office or Mr. Stan Boyes , Weld
County Extension Office .
