Re: FHWA 1601 interchange approval process/Applicant request
Dear Weld County Commissioners:
On behalf of BNSF Railway, I am writing to inform you of the Company's intention to seek approval for a future
new highway interchange to be located at Interstate 76 and County Road 8 in Weld County.
This new highway interchange will provide needed access to the proposed BNSF Denver Logistics Park and
Intermodal Facility which is anticipated to open in 2028 in Weld County, between Lochbuie and Hudson. This
proposed new interchange will provide other important benefits including reducing future traffic burdens and
congestion on adjacent highway interchanges, improving access to local roads and improving traffic safety.
The Federal Highway Administration 1601 interchange process requires that a local government unit serve as
the project applicant. By way of this letter, we are hereby submitting our request that Weld County serve as
the local government applicant for this 1601 interchange process.
Thank you for your attention to this request. We look forward to discussing this and addressing any questions
you may have.
Sincerely,
4. /c2 "22,
