RE: ESTABLISH CHANGE FUND AT WELD COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE FOR JAIL
BOOKING AREA
WHEREAS, the. Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board has received a request that a Change Fund, in the amount of
$2,000.00 for the Jail Booking area, be established for the Weld County Sheriff's Office, and
WHEREAS, the Director of Finance and Administration and the Controller have
recommended approval of said request, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, deems it
advisable and in the best interests of Weld County to approve said request.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the Controller, be, and hereby is, authorized to establish a Change Fund
for the Weld County Sheriff's Office, in the amount of $2,000.00 for the Jail Booking area.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 16th day of November, A.D., 2020.

Subject: Cash Request for new Inmate Cash Out Drawer and SO Admin
Replenishing Drawer
In order to save check issuance and handling cost, the WCSO has established new
inmate account pay out procedures at the Jail.
We propose to handle inmate account balance payouts, for inmates going to other
agencies only, via cash if the balance is $0-$50. Currently all payouts for this
category are handled by check.
We request a cash drawer of $1,000 for the Jail booking area and $1,000 for the
"replenishing" drawer located at the SO Admin building.
Access to the jail cash out drawer will include one booking tech per shift and the
booking supervisors. Access to the SO Admin cash replenishing drawer for the jail
will include the office manager, budget manager and accounting technician.
Cash handling procedures are currently being updated to include the additional
cash on site.
We will test the process at the beginning of December and activate it starting
1/1/2021.
