Home My WebLink About20202454.tiffRESOLUTION RE: APPROVE RECONFIGURATION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES AT COUNTY ROADS 29 AND 90 WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, the Weld County Department of Public Works has recommended to the Board that Two -Way Stop signs be installed on County Road 90 at County Road 29 and uninstalled on County Road 29 at County Road 9b, to ensure safety to the traveling public, and WHEREAS, the Board has determined that said traffic control devices are necessary for the protection of the general public. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the Department of Public Works, be, and hereby is, directed to install Two -Way Stop signs on County Road 90 at County Road 29 and uninstall the Stop signs on County Road 29 at County Road 90, for the safety of the general public, and said signs shall conform to the State Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices. The current stop sign configuration at CR 29 and CR 90 has traffic traveling north/south on WCR29 stopping. Back in 2017, WCR 29 was designated as an arterial roadway per the functional transportation map. Public Works is proposing to change this stop sign configuration to have traffic stop on CR 90 a local roadway, allowing traffic to be continuous on CR 29 and function as an arterial. The east leg of CR 90 has been annexed by Pierce, however, not the last 100' to the intersection. Staff will send Pierce the pass around and drawing to make them aware. What options exist for the Board? (include consequences, impacts, costs, etc. of options): 1. The BOCC may choose to approve this stop sign configuration change 2. The BOCC may want to schedule a work session to further discuss the issue. Recommendation: Public Works recommends changing the current stop sign configuration at the 29/90 intersection as shown on the attached drawing If recommended for approval, this item will be placed on an upcoming BOCC Meeting Agenda.
