RE: APPROVE EMERGENCY BID #B2000191, KITCHEN HOODS FOR TEMPORARY
KITCHEN SPACE (1301 NORTH 17TH AVENUE, GREELEY) AND WAIVER OF
TEN-DAY WAITING PERIOD FOR CONSIDERATION AND INVESTIGATION -
DEPARTMENT OF BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Department has requested a waiver of the ten-day waiting
period for Emergency Bid Request #B2000191, Kitchen Hoods for the Temporary Kitchen Space
at 1301 North 17th Avenue, Greeley, for the Department of Buildings and Grounds to purchase
kitchen appliance hoods, enabling design completion for the temporary kitchen at the Weld
County Jail, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners deems it advisable to waive the ten-day
waiting period for said emergency bid.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the ten-day waiting period for Emergency Bid Request #B2000191,
Kitchen Hoods for the Temporary Kitchen Space at 1301 North 17th Avenue, Greeley, for the
Department of Buildings and Grounds, be, and hereby is, waived.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the low bid from Smith and Greene,
a Division of Edward Don and Company, in the amount of $12,914.00, be, and hereby is, accepted
on an emergency basis.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 12th day of October, A.D., 2020.

Subject: Jail Temporary Kitchen Hoods — Bid 2000191
As advertised this bid is purchase kitchen appliance hoods to support the temporary Jail kitchen being
constructed at 1301 North 17th Avenue. The low bid is from Smith & Green, a Division of Edward Don &
Company.
Therefore, Buildings & Grounds is recommending awarding to Smith & Green in the amount of
$12,914.00.
In order to complete the design and construction of the Jail Temporary kitchen before the 3rd week in
November, Buildings & Grounds is requesting emergency approval. This will allow the hood to begin
manufacturing now and arrive in time.

We have an urgent bid need. We need to define the hoods in order to finish designing a temporary kitchen for the Jail.
Please add the attached to a boiler plate to advertise.
The plan is to bid today, receive bids on Friday and seek emergency approval on Monday.
The bid is not mandatory. And during this timeframe B&G will reach out to vendors and let them know this is occurring.
