Hello there, My son who is a disabled young adult recently released from an institution has moved to the neighborhood that has 49th street as the access road. The road as you may know is classified at the City of Evans Farm Road? So sidewalks aren't required? However, school children cannot safely travel to the middle school to the West and pedestrians have to walk in the ditch with the snakes and gullies for about a mile and a half to the east before they can safely get to a sidewalk. The roads are maintained by Weld County. I have been advised that my voice will not be heard and as the neighborhood has been neglected for 60 years it would not be a priority to assist in getting safe transportation or providing a safe space for pedestrians to travel along the road; hence, pedestrians in the roadway is a common occurrence. My heart goes out to the families of this neighborhood and feel that it is the duty of the representatives to take charge and heal the wounded areas of the community. Please respond with the next steps for me to participate in helping to bring this concern to members of the governing body who can make a difference for those who have not had safe access for nearly 60 years. Thank you.
