Weld County Council Appoints Commissioner
Greeley, CO — Kevin Ross of Eaton was appointed County Commissioner At -Large Monday night at the
regular meeting of the Weld County Council.
Ross and four other candidates were interviewed during the public meeting. Each candidate was
interviewed individually and given half an hour to answer roughly the same eight questions from the
County Council.
Eleven applications were received for the vacancy. The five candidates interviewed by Council were
Perry Buck, of Windsor; Gary "Butch" White Jr., of Ault; Mike Finn, of Greeley; Elijah Hatch, of
Kersey; and Kevin Ross, of Eaton.
Mr. Ross currently serves as mayor of Eaton. He is also the owner of an insurance agency. He will step
down as mayor and attend his first Board of County Commissioners meeting on Wednesday, February
19. Mr. Ross will be transitioning his business with more producers.
Mr. Ross replaces Sean Conway, who resigned effective January 31, citing his wife's health issues. Mr.
Conway's term would have ended on December 31. Mr. Ross's appointment ends on that date. However,
he intends to run for the commissioner seat and could be elected in November. Candidate Perry Buck of
Windsor has also stated she intends to run for the commissioner seat.
The County Council has sole authority per the Home Rule Charter to select a commissioner replacement.
The Council is a non-partisan, voluntary, elected body that has specific enumerated duties set forth in the
Weld County Charter.
