MOTION : By Mr . Heitman to approve the site for a dog kennel . Motion
died for the lack of a second .
MOTION : By Mr . Watson to take the matter under advisement. Second
by Mr . Anderson . A unanimous vote of "Aye " . Motion carried .
Mr. Sears asked if the consideration is negative , would the
Planning Commission make an onsight inspection of the existing
kennel before rendering a decision . Mr . Nix stated he thought
this ,gas a reasonable request .
RESOLUTION :
Be it therefore resolved to recommend approval to the
Board of County Commissioners subject to construction to begin
within one year of the Commissioner ' s approval and the maximum
number of dogs to 200 . Motion by Mr . Watson , second by Mr .
Heitman . A vote of "Aye" by Anderson , Heitman , Watson , Nix
and Bowles . Motion carried .

DISCUSSION : Mr . Lorenson presented a map showing the existing feed
lot and a drawing of the proposed expansion which would he to
the North . He recommended approval for the following reasons :
it was recommended for approval by the Health Department and
the County Agent , it is compatible with the existing land uses ,
it should be subject to construction within one year of the
Commissioner ' s approval and a maximum number to be determined .
He felt that no consideration had been given to the water table
which is 10 feet below the surface and the soil report indicates
it is extremely well drained soil . There are no provisions• to
monitor this . Mr. Buckley stated there would be 24 additional
pens and increase to 5000 head . At the present time they are
feeding 12 ,000 head . The expansion would cover 29. 1 acres .
Mr . Bowles expressed concern over the hills that have been
bared creating a east problem , any expansion should be tied to
doing something about the west lots . Mr . West stated he lives
Vantage Acres which is south of the feedlot . They have lived
there since the feedlot has been in existence and has proved to
be a problem for the people in that area . In addition to the
smell , they have a fly problem . Mrs . Dunker , Mrs . Jackson , Mr .
VanDruff , Mrs . Larson , and Mrs . Neuman expressed their opposition
to the feedlot expansion and questioned the zoning . Mr . Lorenson
checked on the zoning and found it is within an "A-1 " zoning
which prohibits commercial feedlots . These people were assured
a year ago when Anshutz applied for a mobile home permit , there
would be no further expansion . After checking the zoning , Mr.
Lorenson stated it is an "A-1 " zoning and the and the application
would be disqualified , it should never have come before the
Planning Commission .

Dear Mr. Lorenson:
Mr. Carl Vetter, foreman of the'Anshutz Farm, Hudson, Colorado
has requested this office to furnish you with the soils information and
interpretation for an area of land in the W 2/3 SW1 Section 8, T1N,
R65W, Weld Co. , Colorado. The Anshutz Farm plans to enlarge their exist-
ing feedlots.
The present feedlots are located in an area which has a sandy
surface soil and medium to moderately coarse textured subsoils and sub-
stratum. These soils are deep, well drained, and have no watertable
within ten feet. Any runoff which may occur from the feedlots is absorbed
directly into the soil.
