Their bid indicates a 12 -inch base and we specified a 20 -inch base on the bid documents. The larger base is necessary due to the weight of heavy trucks driving over the cattle guards. There is one less 1 -Beam stringer on the 12 ft guard section and two less I -Beam stringers on the 16 ft guard section bid from Peterson Metal Products. We recommend awarding the bid for cattle guards, crossbars, and pipe sleeves to Contech Engineered Solution, the lowest bidder that meets specs. These items will be ordered as needed in 2020.
