Dear Harry:
Bob Wardlaw of our Farm Management Department brought
to my attention the other day, a pending law suit which
you probably are aware of and perhaps already share our
concern. It concerns Westminister and Thornton and their
efforts to condemn the water owned by Farmers Irrigation
Company and stored in the Stanley Lake.
It appears to us that if Thornton and Westminister
are successful in their action, all the land presently
irrigated under this ditch will, of course, be substantially
diminished in value and amount to a serious reduction in
tax base for Weld County.
If you share this concern, it would seem to us that
a concerted effort should be made to organize other interested
parties to and including mortgage companies, irrigation
companies and the like, of the consequences of the proposi-
tion.
Needless to say, Bob would be more than willing to
spend time with you and other Commissioners concerning the
details of this action if you should wish.
