HomeMy WebLinkAbout740063 RESOLUTION RE: REGULATING, WARNING AND GUIDING TRAFFIC ON COUNTY ROADS AND AT COUNTY ROAD INTERSECTIONS IN WELD COUNTY, COLORADO. WHEREAS, a multitude of complaints have been made to the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that drivers of motor vehicles habitually drive on County Roads and through County road intersections without regard for the general safety of drivers of other motor vehicles, and WHEREAS, pursuant to 1963 Colorado Revised Statutes, 13-5-69 (1), as amended, local authorities, with reference to streets or highways under their jurisdiction, are authorized to designate through streets or highways and erect stop signs at specified entrances thereto, and WHEREAS, said Board, pursuant to such complaints, has deter- mined upon the basis of traffic and personal investigations that conditions exist which make it necessary to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic on County Roads by posting signs thereon. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners, Weld County, Colorado, that the Board deems it neces- sary to regulate, warn and guide traffic on County Roads and any inter- sections thereof, and it hereby authorizes and orders the posting of such traffic control devices as shall be reasonably necessary to regulate, warn and/or guide traffic thereon for the safety of the general public and that said traffic control devices shall conform to the State Manual and speci- fications. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of County Commis- sioners, Weld County, Colorado, does declare and establish the following not to be through streets or highways for the named portions of County Roads which shall become effective when standard stop signs are erected at the entrances to: 1. County Road No. 56. 5 where it intersects with East 24th Street, also known as County Road No. 58, and 2. East 24th Street, also known as County Road No. 5 8, where it intersects with County Road No. 56. 5, and 3. Cherry Avenue where it intersects with East 24th Street, also known as County Road No. 58; all as shown on plat submitted by the County Traffic Engineer and made a part hereof by reference. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of County Commis- sioners, Weld County, Colorado, does declare and establish a School Bus Loading Zone area on both sides of County Road No. 56. 5 beginning approxi- mately 350 feet East of its intersection with Colorado State Highway No. 34 and extending West approximately 1500 feet in Weld County, Colorado, all as shown on plat as submitted by the County Traffic Engineer and made a part hereof by reference. The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 4th day of September, A. D. , 1974. This is a very dangerous area due to the high rate of speed used on these roads, blind corners, and many children. Several complaints have been received from this area regarding this condition. Corrective action taken has been to speed zone Cherry Avenue from Highway 34 to the intersection of East 24th Street and County Road No. 562, East 24th Street from this intersection to the City limit, and County Road No. 56:z from this intersection to Highway 34 on the east, all to 35 m.p.h. Also, all three roads are properly signed to be a full stop at this intersection. School Bus Loading signs have also been installed on County Road No. 56k. The attached diagram indicates the corrective action taken. All signs are installed. Your cooperation in adopting a resolution to this effect will be appreciated. ..
