RESOLUTION RE: APPROVE PROJECT PROPOSAL APPLICATION FOR 2021 NORTHEAST COLORADO ALL HAZARD STEERING COMMITTEE (NEAHR) HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN AND SHERIFF'S OFFICE TO SUBMIT ELECTRONICALLY WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, the Board has been presented with a Project Proposal Application for the 2021 Northeast Colorado All Hazard Steering Committee (NEAHR) Homeland Security Grant from the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Sheriff's Office, to the Northeast Colorado All Hazard Steering Committee (NEAHR), with further terms and conditions being as stated in said application, and WHEREAS, after review, the Board deems it advisable to approve said application, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. Grant funds will be distributed to all subrecipients with the funding philosophy to support as many projects across the entire region and across many disciplines. The fiscal agent is the City of Greeley and the grant period covers three years 2021-2023.The program seeks to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to and recover from threats and hazards that pose greatest risk within the United States. The application will request funding for the purchase of a Small Unmanned aircraft (sUAS) system for the Weld County Regional SWAT Team in the amount of $29,995. The system will be utilized within the SWAT team. It allows the team to safely solve critical incidents while observing a suspect and give commands without forcing an unnecessary confrontation while operating within Colorado's new SB217 use of force guidelines. What options exist for the Board?
