RE: REGULATING, WARNING AND GUIDING TRAFFIC DURING THE EXTENSION OF
TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF COUNTY ROAD 72 BETWEEN COUNTY ROADS
31 AND 33 FOR ONE (1) ADDITIONAL WEEK, FOR UNANTICIPATED DELAYS DUE
TO A THIRD CULVERT REPLACEMENT
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to C.R.S. §42-4-106(6)(a):
"...local authorities, with their respective jurisdiction may, for the
purpose of road construction and maintenance, temporarily close to
through traffic or to all vehicular traffic any highway or portion
thereof for a period not to exceed a specified number of work days
for project completion and shall, in conjunction with any such road
closure establish appropriate detours or provide for an alternative
routing of the traffic affected...", and
WHEREAS, the Board, pursuant to said statute and upon the basis of traffic and personal
investigations, has determined that conditions exist which make it necessary to temporarily close
said County Road to through traffic and to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic by posting
signs thereon.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, deems it necessary to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic on
County roads and any intersections thereof, and it hereby authorizes and orders the posting of
such traffic control devices as shall be reasonably necessary to regulate, warn and/or guide traffic
thereon for the safety of the general public and that said traffic control devices shall conform to
the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, does declare and establish that the temporary closure of County Road 72, between
County Roads 31 and 33, be extended, with said extended closure being effective December 3,
2021, for approximately one (1) additional week through December 10, 2021, for unanticipated
delays due to a third irrigation culvert replacement, and further, that standard official traffic control
devices shall be erected at said closure giving notice of the restrictions.

by the following vote on the 6th day of December, A.D., 2021, nunc pro tunc November 8, 2021.

CR 72 between CR 31 and CR 33 was scheduled to be closed to thru traffic from 11/22/21 to
12/3/21 for two culvert replacements. Public Works is requesting an extension of one week until
12/10/21. The added time is necessary because a third culvert needs replaced.
