HomeMy WebLinkAbout740051.tiff RESOLUTION RE: REGULATING, WARNING AND GUIDING TRAFFIC ON COUNTY ROADS AND AT COUNTY ROAD INTERSECTIONS IN WELD COUNTY, COLORADO. WHEREAS, a multitude of complaints have been made to the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that drivers of motor vehicles habitually drive on County Roads and through County road intersections without regard for the general safety of drivers of other motor vehicles, and WHEREAS, pursuant to 1963 Colorado Revised Statutes, 13-5-69(1), as amended, local authorities, with reference to streets or highways under their jurisdiction, are authorized to designate through streets or highways and erect stop signs at specified entrances thereto, and WHEREAS, the Board, pursuant to such complaints, has deter- mined upon the basis of traffic and personal investigation that conditions exist which make it necessary to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic on County roads by posting signs thereon. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners, Weld County, Colorado, that the Board deems it necessary to regulate, warn and guide traffic on County roads and any intersections thereof, and it hereby authorizes and orders the posting of such traffic control devices as shall be reasonably necessary to regulate, warn and/or guide traffic thereon for the safety of the general public and that said traffic control devices shall conform to the State Manual and specifications. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of County Commissioners, Weld County, Colorado, does declare and establish the following not to be through streets or highways for the named portions of County roads which shall become effective when standard stop signs are erected at the entrances to: 1. North-South County Road No. 53 where it intersects with East-West County Road No. 50, 2. North-South County Road No. 55 where it intersects with East-West County Road No. 50, and 3. East-West County Road No. 22 where it intersects with North-South County Road No. 15, all as shown on plats submitted by the County Traffic Engineer and made a part hereof by reference. The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 3rd day of April, A. D. , 1974. On Or Before_ A complete traffic study has been completed at the intersection of County Road No. 50 and 53. This is a very dangerous intersection due to the correction or off set of County Road 53 at this point. Also the terrain and farm structures make it very difficult for drivers traveling the north- south road (Co. Rd. 53) to see traffic on the east-west road (Co. Rd. 50) . Many complaints have been received from this area including complaints from the State Patrol . Corrective action has been taken to make County Road No. 53 a stop at County Road No. 50 both north and south portions as shown on the attached diagram. All existing regulations have been fully complied with. The changes have been made and are proving to be satisfactory. This is a dangerous intersection due to the amount of new construction in this area. Complaints have been received from this area. Also the attached incident report from the Colorado State Patrol regarding this intersection has been received. Corrective action has been taken to make County Road No. 22 a stop at Road No. 15 both east and west. Also Cross Road signs have been properly installed on the County Road No. 15. The attached diagram indicates the corrective action taken. Your cooperation in adopting a resolution to this effect will be appreciated. Facts: On Dec. 13,1973 I investigated a fatal accident at the above location. This intersection is open with no traffic control. The immeadiate area is dotted with several new residences and this intersection is certainly travelled more frequently than in the Past. Conclusion: I would suggest stop signs be placed on County Road #22 and a intersection warning sign be Placed on County- Road #15 to the north of the intersection. hf 71 / //e.
