NATIONAL FARMER'S DAY
OCTOBER 12, 2021
WHEREAS, the Board of Weld County Commissioners wishes to celebrate and recognize the
farmers of Weld County; and
WHEREAS, agriculture is the backbone of Weld County. Farmers and farm families sow, grow
and plow crops. National Farmer's Day is a day to thank these individuals and their operations for
the fruit, vegetables, nuts, grains and fibrous materials they provide us every day; and
WHEREAS, originally referred to as Old Farmer's Day, National Farmer's Day was cultivated to
celebrate the hard work farmers put into growing their crops. The families who work the land,
plant the crops, provide the nourishment for our bodies and preserve this way of life are crucial
to our county's security and success; and
WHEREAS, Weld County is the longstanding top producer and seller of agricultural products in
Colorado, ranking eighth nationally. The agriculture industry brings in $2 billion dollars annually
to help boost our economy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, by the Board of Weld County Commissioners that
Tuesday, October 12, 2021, be known as National Farmer's Day. We call upon the citizens of
Weld County to make a commitment in celebrating and thanking our farmers in helping to keep
us fed, clothed and nourished.
