Our proposal, Colorado's Pathway Project or Pathway Project, is a proposed 560 -mile, 345 -kilovolt double -circuit transmission system that would create an electric transmission backbone in eastern Colorado, opening new areas to renewable energy development and bringing reliable low-cost power to the Front Range and the rest of the state. Its northern terminus is planned at Fort St. Vrain substation in Weld County, and the Project will connect miles of wires, lines and substations through eastern Colorado before reaching the other terminus at Harvest Mile substation in Arapahoe County (see map on next page). The Company is also presenting an optional extension of the Pathway Project referred to as the May Valley -Longhorn Extension. The May Valley -Longhorn Extension is a 90 -mile, 345 kV double circuit transmission line extension that would extend from the southeastern corner of the Pathway Project at the new May Valley Substation south to the new Longhorn Substation near Vilas (referred to on the map below as the "May Valley -Long Horn Extension"). The Company is bringing this optional extension forward for consideration as it would establish additional transmission interconnection opportunities for potential renewable generation developers in the wind -rich southeastern area of the state. Public Service is requesting that the Colorado Public Utilities Commission ("Commission") grant a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity ("CPCN") to construct the Pathway Project and the May Valley -Longhorn Extension. A copy of the Company's CPCN can be viewed by visiting the Commission's E -filings page (https://www.dora.state.co.us/pls/efi/EFl.homepage)' or Public Service's regulatory filings page (https://www.xcelenergy.com/company/rates and regulations/filings). We are including you in this communication. because portions of the proposed Pathway Project may be located in your jurisdiction.
