MILDRED DIEHL
The Board of Weld County Commissioners would like to wish Mildred Diehl a very happy belated 100th birthday!
Mildred was born on February 17, 1921, on a family farm near the Pawnee Buttes. She currently resides in Greeley.
Mildred recommends that others just enjoy life; there will be hard times, but enjoy what you can. Mildred and her
husband, Elmer, were involved in Weld County 4-H for 25 years. Their "hard working hands" were recognized in the
photo display, "The hands that build Weld County" at the 4-H Exhibition Building at Island Grove Regional Park.
Mildred's "hard working hands" helped her receive an Elementary School Certificate from Colorado State
College. She then went on to teach at a one -room school near Briggsdale. Over the years, she's enjoyed the love,
laughter and joy her three children, nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren have brought to her life.
Congratulations, Mildred, on a milestone birthday and a life well -lived. Here's to many more happy years to come!

EVELYN WARD
The Board of Weld County Commissioners would like to wish Evelyn Ward a very happy belated 100th birthday! Evelyn was born on
February 17, 1921, in Denver, but lived in a "soddy" in Holyoke. She moved to Greeley in 1949 after becoming widowed to work as an
extension agent at the Weld County Extension office.
After graduating valedictorian of her high school, Evelyn attended college at Colorado A&M (now CSU) and received a degree in home
economics. She later returned to school and received a master's degree in food science and nutrition, then began employment as a social
worker for Weld County.
Evelyn's advice for others is to keep busy with things you love. Besides keeping busy with traveling and her three children, eight
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, she also made hundreds of quilts for victims of Hurricane Katrina, tornados in Mississippi,
new owners of Habitat for Humanity homes, Hands/Warm Hearts and Kidzquilts. She was recognized for 5,400 volunteer hours with
the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and was chosen to represent Weld County with Mayor Hopkins when the newly -designed
United Nations flag traveled the U.S.
Congratulations, Evelyn, on a milestone birthday and a life well -lived. Here's to many more happy years to come!
