HomeMy WebLinkAbout20213512.tiffPROCLAMATION EATON REDS DAY WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 22, 2021 WHEREAS, under the lights of the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl on the Colorado State University —Pueblo campus, the Eaton Reds football team battled the Brush Beetdiggers in the Class 2A state championship game on Saturday, November 27; and WHEREAS, the game showcased Eaton's ability to overcome adversity. With the game tied 7-7 at halftime, Brush took a narrow 14-13 lead late in the third quarter; and WHEREAS, the Reds answered back emphatically in the fourth quarter. Eaton senior Ethan Florez, named the game's Most Outstanding Player, scored his second touchdown of the game to give the Reds the lead, and a late game touchdown by junior Ryder True secured the 26-14 state championship win; and WHEREAS, the state championship is the second consecutive for the football program and caps off a season that saw the Reds post a perfect 13-0 record. While players, coaches and parents should be commended for their team's success, equally impressive is the teamwork, work ethic and determination shown by our young people in pursuit of a goal. Those traits will serve them well moving forward and are ones we admire in all Weld County residents. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Board of Weld County Commissioners that the 22nd day of December 2021, be known as Eaton Reds Day.
