WELD COUNTY EMERGENCY E911 TELEPHONE SERVICE AUTHORITY
TO INCREASE THE EMERGENCY TELEPHONE CHARGE
Notice is hereby given of the following:
The Weld County E911 Telephone Service Authority (the "Authority") will be considering
increasing the monthly emergency telephone charge (the "ETC") from $1.20 to $1.72. If approved
by the Authority the increased ETC will become effective February 1, 2021.
The Authority is considering increasing the ETC to help pay for costs associated with the provision
of 911 emergency telephone and dispatch service. The Authority helps to fund 911 emergency
telephone and dispatch services to EMS services, law enforcement and fire protection agencies
in Weld County. An increased ETC will allow the Authority to fund operational costs, new
technology and equipment which will result in better service to 911 callers.
Colorado law at C.R.S. §29-11-101, et. seq., allows the Authority to collect the ETC and spend it
on 911 emergency telephone and dispatch services. The ETC is imposed monthly on each
wireline, wireless, and VoIP telephone with a billing address in the Authority's service area.
Service providers collect the ETC from subscribers and remit the amounts collected to the
Authority. A separate fee is imposed on prepaid wireless service; that fee is collected by retailers
at the point of sale and remitted to the State of Colorado.
The Authority's Board will consider the increase in the monthly emergency telephone charge at
the Authority's Board meeting on November 17, 2020, at 12:00 p.m., in the Donahue Room at the
Greeley Police Department, 2875 W. 10th Street, Greeley, CO 80631. Objections or comments
may be filed by mailing the same to the Authority's address of 1551 North 17th Avenue, Greeley,
CO 80631. Inquiries to the Authority concerning the application may be directed to Mike Wallace
at 970-400-2890, or mrwallace@weldgov.com. The Authority will consider all written comments
and objections submitted prior to acting on the proposed ETC increase. The deadline for filing an
objection or comments is November 16, 2020. Members of the public may attend and make
statements even if they do not file comments, or objections at the Authority's Board meeting on
November 17, 2020, at 12:00 p.m.
