Purpose : To discuss the business transaction for the purchase of the vacant land immediately south of the Weld County Court House and commonly known as the Sterling Building and the Kenny Building. This property is jointly owned by Mr. and Mrs . Robert Gilbert. Present : Mr. Robert Gilbert, seller of the property, Mr. Samuel Telep, Weld County Attorney and the Board of County Commissioners, Mr. Glenn K. Billings, Chairman, Mr. Harold W. Anderson and Mr. Marshall H. Anderson. Mr. Telep stated that there was no condemnation being considered at this point and that a purchase price and the stipulation of this transaction had been agreed on. That it now appears all were ready to enter into a contract. Mr. Billings reported that a special meeting of the County Advisory Committee had been called to discuss this purchase and that they had recommended that Weld County should purchase this property for 340,000 dollars for the benefit of all the residents of the county to provide for the expansion of County Government present and future. Appraisal figures prepared by Mr. Harold A. Jungblood, Suite 1000, Savings Building, Oak and House Street, Fort Collins, Colorado and. dated March 3, 1970 is on file in the office of the County Commissioners. This figure is 340,000 dollars. Mr. Gilbert stated that he had received written communi- cation from a firm that the removal of the debris and the back fill of the hole could be done for 5, 500 dollars. It was agreed by the Commissioners that this shall not be reflected in the purchase price, but shall become an obligation of the county. Mr. Gilbert gave the figure of 400,000 dollars as the asking price for the property, but after having discussions with the Commissioners had agreed to take 340,000 dollars in cash. Motion: That the County Attorney prepare the appropriate resolution to authorize the Weld County Commissioners to enter into such an agreement to buy this property from Mr. and Mrs .
