OPEN LETTER TO ENERGY INDUSTRY LEADERS OF COLORADO
April 28, 2021
Dear Colorado Energy Industry Leader,
As you head to downtown Denver offices to run businesses that economically support both a city and state which
disparages your energy industry sector, the Weld County Board of Commissioners would like to invite you to consider
a change of scenery. We invite you to consider moving your office space to an energy -friendly county which values
relationships built over time and your partnerships with our communities, schools and organizations. We invite you
to move your offices to Weld County.
Recently, six Denver City Council members signed a letter to President Biden requesting a 2,500 -foot setback and a
national fracking ban. These same city council members represent a city and county that benefits from the revenue
your business brings through taxes; the same city and county benefits from revenue your employees bring through
dining, shopping, and more. And these same council members reap the political rewards from the revenue your out-
of-state counterparts bring to the city and county of Denver through conventions and meetings.
This double -speak is not a sudden development in Colorado, with politicians decrying fossil fuels to constituents while
their hands remain in the pockets of the industry. On the one hand, they enjoy the economic benefits your industry
provides as it puts cash in their coffers, and on the other, they batter your industry to appease an ill-informed agenda.
Bring your support to the county that supports all forms of energy and that action will speak volumes statewide. Bring
your support closer to the employment base that is the very foundation of your industry. We have lots of room, low
taxes, and an appreciation of an industry that supports the environment while ensuring a more prosperous future for
all Coloradans. You are welcome in Weld!
Sincerely,
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
