RE: APPROVE ACCEPTANCE OF DONATION OF TREX BENCH TO WELD COUNTY
FROM CARBON VALLEY CHAPTER OF NATIONAL SOCIETY OF DAUGHTERS OF
THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION FOR PLACEMENT ON WELD COUNTY LEGACY
TRAIL
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Carbon Valley Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the
American Revolution, P.O. Box 331, Mead, Colorado 80542, has donated a TREK bench to Weld
County, and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of Weld County to formally accept all donations via Resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, that the donation of a TREK bench by the Carbon Valley Chapter of the
National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, be, and hereby is, accepted and
designated for use by Weld County for placement on the Weld County Legacy Trail.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that a copy of this Resolution and a letter of
appreciation be forwarded to the Carbon Valley Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters
of the American Revolution at the presentation to be held on December 17, 2021, at the starting
point of the Weld County Legacy Trail.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 15th day of December, A.D., 2021.

PASS -AROUND TITLE: Bench for the Weld Legacy Trail

Brief description of the problem/issue:
I received a request from Debra Brodhead, County Employee and also the Regent for the Carbon Valley
Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Her chapter has an on -going project
with the TREX Community Challenge. They collect 500 lbs. of certain types of stretchy plastic for a six-month
period to receive a 48" TREX bench.
At this time, they have one bench they need to order and one of their chapter nomination choices will be to
place it on the Weld Legacy Trail near the SW County Building — with approval from Weld County BOCC.
What options exist for the Board? (include consequences, impacts, costs, etc. of options):
If they decide to donate the bench, they need to know if you approve this and be willing to anchor the bench
down on the path. This group does attach a Daughters of American Revolution Marker on the bench.
