Home My WebLink About20210500.tiffRESOLUTION RE: APPROVE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE ON COUNTY ROAD 53 AT COUNTY ROAD 80 WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, the Weld County Department of Public Works has recommended to the Board that a Stop sign be installed on County Road 53 at County Road 80, to ensure safety to the traveling public, and WHEREAS, the Board has determined that said traffic control device IS necessary for the protection of the general public. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the Department of Public Works, be, and hereby is, directed to install a Stop sign on County Road 53 at County Road 80, for the safety of the general public, and said sign shall conform to the State Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices. This request is for the installation of a Stop sign at the intersection of WCR 53 and WCR 80. The sign is proposed to be placed to stop northbound traffic approaching this tee intersection. PW will have someone in attendance at the BOCC meeting to answer any questions that may come up. 2021-0500 a2/ate BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PASS -AROUND REVIEW PASS -AROUND TITLE: Installation of Stop Sign on WCR 53 at VVCR 80 DEPARTMENT: PW DATE: 218/21 PERSON REQUESTING: Cameron Parrott Brief description of the problem/issue: VVCR 80 was paved recently between WCR 51 and WCR 55. The intersection of WCR 53 was left uncontrolled at that time. Staff is requesting to add a stop sign for traffic approaching the intersection from the south. This installation will function more consistently with the other intersections in the area and help reduce confusion as to who has the traveling right of way at this intersection. What options exist for the Board? (include consequences, impacts, costs, etc. of options): • Approve the stop sign installation request o The intersection would be controlled like all the other intersections in the immediate area O 1 sign installation is estimated to cost $250 • Deny the stop sign installation request o This intersection would remain uncontrolled Recommendation: Staff recommends installing one stop sign on VVCR 53 at VVCR 80 to stop northbound traffic as it is entering the intersection.
