NATIONAL AG DAY - MARCH 23, 2021
WHEREAS, the Board of Weld County Commissioners wishes to celebrate and recognize the
agricultural producers of Weld County; and
WHEREAS, agriculture is the backbone of Weld County. Farmers, ranchers and farm families
are the original stewards of our environment. National Ag Day is a day to thank these
individuals and their operations for the meat, fruit, vegetables, dairy products and other
animal products they provide us every day; and
WHEREAS, National Ag Day has been observed since 1973, when it was first established by
the Agriculture Council of America to increase public awareness of agriculture's vital role in
our society. The families who work the land, care for the livestock, plant the crops, provide
the nourishment for our bodies, and preserve this way of life are crucial to our county's
security and success; and
WHEREAS, Weld County is the longstanding top producer and seller of agricultural products
in Colorado, ranking eighth nationally, bringing in $2 billion dollars annually to help boost our
economy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, by the Board of Weld County Commissioners
that Tuesday, March 23, 2021, be known as National Ag Day. We call upon the citizens of
Weld County to make a commitment in celebrating and thanking our agricultural producers in
helping to keep us fed, clothed and nourished.
