RE: APPROVE TITLE CHANGE OF WELD COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF BUILDINGS AND
GROUNDS TO WELD COUNTY FACILITIES DEPARTMENT AND APPOINT TOBY
TAYLOR AS DIRECTOR OF FACILITIES
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Department of Buildings and Grounds fulfills the role of
construction manager and performs repairs and maintenance for County facilities. The
terminology in the industry has changed over time, migrating toward the more recognizable term
of `Facilities,' due to the responsibilities being more than just simple grounds and building repairs,
and
WHEREAS, the Board of Weld County Commissioners recently reviewed a document
entitled Future of Facilities, prepared by Toby Taylor, Director of the Department of Buildings and
Grounds, regarding the strategic approach to managing Weld County facilities in the future, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Weld County Commissioners has determined, in keeping with
the strategic future direction of managing Weld County facilities, it is appropriate to change the
name of the Weld County Department of Buildings and Grounds to the Weld County Facilities
Department, with Toby Taylor being appointed the Director of Facilities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that, the name of the Weld County Department of Buildings and Grounds be,
and hereby is, changed to the Weld County Facilities Department, effective immediately.
BE IT FURTURE RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, that Toby Taylor, be, and hereby is, appointed as the Director of Facilities, effective
immediately.
